hello everyone, for the last couple of days I did work with Evergreen Styrene plates and profiles to get an use to it and an idea how much material and time is needed to build something like or similar to these...


I saw this little articulated Komatsu HM400 dump truck on eBay for a good price and ordered two...

and loaded with a bucket...


I also bought once a bag with three univeral mill cars in H0 scale on TradeMe...



and thought that would be a nice car to have in N scale, measured the H0 model and built one in N scale...

and loaded with two slabs...


the undercarriage is based on a shorten Athearn gondola (metal, nice and heavy) equiped with BLMA trucks with 36" low pro wheels and body mount MicroTrains couplers...


working with styrene, I like it...

and just for the fun of it I made one in Z scale 1:220 as well...

...I have to file the bolsters a bit down so the car rides a bit lower and have to body mount Z scale couplers

Brass and styrene sure is nice to work with, nice job!

After working in Z scale good old N must feel huge!

I take it the Komatsu were N scale? any idea of the brand. very nice work Steve.

cheers, not it's not N scale, it is 1:144 (a bit too big for N but doesn't matter in the steel mill) and the brand is Takara Tomy
