A team from Tauranga is heading to Railex at Porirua 5th-6th of November (New Zealand Kennel Club 11 Prosser Street, Elsdon 5022), with our 3/16th NZR layout. I'll be at the layout with a small display of nz120 rolling stock, and I'll have my kit boxes behind the layout for any sales anyone would like.

Cheers

Hi Everyone,

What a great opportunity to catch up and meet some of the nz120 guys.

Thanks for your hospitality Gary, and interesting discussion with Rhys. Also to those who came and said 'Hi', at Porirua Railex. The crew and I had a ball of a time for the whole weekend, and coming home was a relief and an anticlimax after such a good time. Happy modelling till next time,

Cheers

Russell and John

Yes a fantastic show it was! Many great models in many scales. As usual, and again, I was in awe of Kerosene Creek, a true masterpiece of modelling - especailly the scenics. Mesmerising. And I don't even like forest/logging/industrial type railways.

And Mr trackGang, very nice to see your new shiny Grass Grubs and Southerner(?) coaches in the flesh. Well done on the finish to whoever was responsible!

Would have been nice to have seen a 120 layout there, or did I miss something?

Hi Russell, thats such an awesome layout you guys have got - enough there to keep everyone happy

Your layout when it's residing at home - is it set up for... crikey, what would you call it... internal or external control? just little interesting things like having the station buildings on the outside...  (turntable needs a spot of adjustment too lol)

more & more I find it interesting how NZ120 (tt) is such an ideal size...

TT scale Dx next to TT scale Reichsbahn Krokodil...

Hi Muir,

Nice opportunity to have met you. Liked your K/Ka models you showed.

The layout is (once again) stacked away in the garage until the next show (Tauranga - Jan 6-8th).

Would be fantastic to have it setup so we can continue detailing and scenic work. And yes, I do have a 70' turntable to fit into the yard at some stage.

Interesting size comparison between loco's.

Hopefully this will work . . .

Hayward's Estate by Gavin Sowry (I think)

The Beer Crate layout by Gavin Sowry

Tanis 1937 by Will Vale (?)

1970's Rhodesia by Paul Napier. It must have been accurate (and familiar) according to the comments of one onlooker.

A micro layout by Kerry Willard in On30. He wasn't having a good day as some hand laid track was coming apart.

An S scale layout by the Wairarapa Modellers. Looked great (when they weren't running US stuff).

BOP Trackgang Layout. In the background is Beaka doing a "Killroy was here" impersonation.

9mm layout by Wellington Modellers (?)

A fantastic show and I'm glad I got to see the handiwork of Raoul Quinn/Grant Morrel, Paul Napier, Gavin Sowry, and meet Kerry Willard.

Kerry mentioned a journal article he wrote on the frustration of exhibitions - I must look it up.

I wish I could have stayed for the whole weekend. Next year maybe.

I didn't realise you were in the pic till I was sorting through them. The look on your face when I turned up was good enough !

I would love to have gone to the show for the two days (* makes mental note not to take SWMBO next year*).
