R class...

...well, parts of it

On 23 March 1907, R 28 was operating the Boat Train between Christchurch and Lyttelton, New Zealand when it over-ran the stop-block on Lyttelton wharf. The driving frame, wheels, and engine fell into the water but as depicted in the picture, the rest of the locomotive stayed on the wharf.

Photograph taken by Albert Percy Godber. Under New Zealand law, copyright expires fifty years after the death of the photographer; Godber died in 1949 and thus the photograph entered the public domain in 1999. In any countries where copyright law may apply, this constitutes fair use on Wikipedia as it is an irreplaceable photograph of R 28's accident. It is also rare, as few images of the R class exist from this era.

I have a NZMRJ from the late 80's at home that has several articles realted to the R class, along with some plans - I'll check which one.

For the old K class, google 'K88 K92' which will lead to a whole stack of info on these locos. I must admit that I prefer K92 to K88, it just looks more 'right' to me.
