    Hey Modelers,

All this time I haven’t started my own topic tread.
Kit things keep ticking along. Unfortunately interest appears to have quieten over the last couple of years with only a handful of modeler’s publicly seaming to be active. But there’s still steady interest going behind the scenes I can say.
Personally I’m now dividing my time between nz120 and 1:64th kit production, so it’s a ‘what needs to be done next’ scenario. Plus I’ve been doing more requests for custom decals for wagons.
If you need something and its been O/S on the webpage for a while, then that’s why. Haven’t forgotten the suggested kits that people have discussed with me over the last few years, and hopefully we’ll get something out later this year for the modern rolling stock.
We did have a handy room here in Tauranga for monthly meetings and the nz120 layout was up most of the 12 months we had the room. Some updates and improvements were made at the time including more scenic work and new buildings and bridges. The layout is due to return to the show circuit next year. Starting with Tauranga in January then possibly Te Awamutu in April?TBC Taupo in July TBC and then Hamilton in October TBC. (TBC- to be confirmed)
Will keep you more up-to-date each month.
In the meantime heres pics of the first nz120 ‘popscile’ Dx2615 I built.

    Cheers Russell

Great stuff Russell! Great to have your updates from Trackgang.

For my own part, my big challenge over the last 12 months has been moving (again), having to disassemble my layout (again) and then starting again… which hasn’t been great for modelling. However, things have stabilised now so I’ve got more time for model making.

Spent this weekend assembling some MMW brass etch container wagons. Have done 2 IA and 2 IB etches. After folding the etches up I then solder with standard solder, to firm up the wagons making them more rigid. In the process of adding the framing with brass square lengths to fill in the thin edge etch. Will take some pic’s to add to the commentary.

Haven’t been back to them since my posting. Must get time before the Tauranga outing in January. Have been working on a few other scale models instead.

Managed to spend a little time on the MMW container wagons tonight. Added brake air reservoir tanks and coupler’s to all 4 wagons. Just have to alter the bogie mounts to suit the Trackgang bogies and do the pipe framing on the IB wagons.
Spent a lot of time lately do other scale jobs including 4 n scale American bodies repainted into NZR, and also 2 S scale loco’s. Decalled a KiwiRail DXB for a friend and trying to complete a fruit salad DF for the local club for the January show.
Have just received castings for another batch of 88 seat rail cars (must make myself one) and AC cars. Will get packing kits soon.
    Cheers

Been doing some work on the nz120 modules. A week ago I emptied the crap outta the shed. It gave me the space to stand the 4 modules up so That I can work on them. Spent last weekend upgrading the electrical connectors between the modules and made heaps of power poles and some lamp poles for the yard. All have been stuck in positon. Added some more road signs and assembled and painted some railroad crossing lights for the 2 road crossings.
This weekend I’ve installed the crossing lights. Constructed a retaining wall with parts of Lc bodies just besode the river bridge. Into the Lc’s I crushed some scoria pebbles and a bit of greenery. Got all enthused today and started building the loco storage shed. I’m in a bad nabit of firing along and not taking any progress photo’s, so I’ll have to do a few teasers in the next couple of days.

Superb work ! Love that Lc bank. There’s been a few pics on facebook of Waikokopu (?) in the Hawkesbay with that large amount of La’s used for bank support – nice to see this idea modelled.

    The new adventure has started!
Picked up the frame work for 4 more modules for the nz120 display layout today. The ideas on finishing these modules has been in the mind planning stage for the last few months and now we plan to have them operational for the TeAwamutu show at the end of April.
Will keep you all posted on progress.
