simple circuits

I've recently veiwed an empty page on controls and electrical so im here to do something about it

there are 3 different types of controls

dc

dcc

cab control

i will try my best to describe these to anyone (dont quote me too much there will be occasional mistakes)

DC

simple power pack transfer nz240V to 12V(dc) allows a user to create a simple layout usually consisting of a single locomotive or isolating sections to isolate any other sections of track whilst not in use insulfrogs on pointwork will be the most common isolating section in these circuits

if you require more info bout this system email me

Dcc

comprehensive system which allows operator to select a individual unit via a signal sent through the track without the need for isolating block system is most effective when all the track work is "live" basically no isolating sections of blocks locomotives require a digital decoder (many brands avalable) if you require more info bout this system email me

Cab control

system consisting of a lot of isolating blocks plenty of "on" "off" switches many dc throttles and plenty of booster units

if you require more info bout this system email me

Isolating sections

the most common isolating section or block is the insulfrogs on pointwork

electrofrogs are best for dcc

insulfrogs are best for dc and cab control

another way of making isolating sections is by using

(Rail joiners are small clips used to join two sections of track mechanically. They come in metal (nickel silver) which connects the rails electrically, and plastic which are insulated to isolate the two sections of track electrically)

warning dont conect all track using these only to isolate you isolate the "top" and "bottom" of the track you wish to isolate
