(sorry forgot to take photos)
Received a package of an IA etching from Evan,
Looks very detailed at first glance, so looked for instructions, no instructions :(
Gently peeled the masking tape off oneside of the styrene, hmm not gentle enough as the skeleton side frames came off with the masking tape, not good, will have to glue those back on.
Had all the separate bits on the table, printed out a picture of the IA from the computer to get an Idea of how things went together,
Now ready to glue.
Scrapped off the masking tape off the other side of the Ia bits.
Paired together the eight under struts and glued together to make four understruts. Had to look at the plan of the IA to figure this out.
Once the understruts had dried, glued them onto the underside of the deck of the IA wagon.
The I beams which run the length of the wagon was glued onto the understruts and slotted into the deck holes and glued.
The endpost is glued into a slot which is on the deck.
Glued the skeleton side frames back on between the solid decking.
An easy wagon to put together, to finish it I am going to weight it with strips of lead down the middle of the two I beams especially in areas where the bogie's and couplers are going to go.
I'm going to trial the Nn3 couplers.
Will most likely use type 16 bogie's
Pros
Easy to build
Con's
Light, will need some weight on it, strips of lead down the centre of the I Beams where the couplers and bogies will go.
Improvements
Instead of having the sharp angles where the skeleton frame work is, they may need to be flanged so that the skeleton frame work doesn't come off with the masking tape.
Overview
Looks complicated at first glance, but utilising the picture of the IA which came with the etching files helped to put it together. Is a good wagon for a beginner to build.
